Privileged Athletes Piss Me Off

I was just hearing about 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick not standing during the playing of our national anthem and I’ve got to say once again we see a professional athlete showing his butt and thinking he’s something special.

Now I’m an opinionated, loud mouthed and obnoxious man who spouts his thoughts on a daily basis, so I decided why should today be any different.

Let me tell you this 28 year old cry baby who feels he is being oppressed, apparently needed to have his butt whooped a little more as a child.

Here is a statement he made about his decision to refuse to stand during our national anthem;

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colour,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game that the 49ers lost, 17-3. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

People getting away with murder? Are you kidding me? I’m not saying the police are perfect, but seriously come on! Why is it just because someone makes a lot of money they feel the need to stand up for something, or in this case, stay seated?

This guy makes ten million to play football, which is just a game. He’s paid to play a game, why does he and other celebrities feel the need to take a stand about social issues?

I think it’s because most of them feel guilty for making the kind of money they make. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to them making the money, what I’m opposed to is how we as a people tend to put them on a pedestal because they make that kind of money.

The truth of the matter is this guy’s  poop smells just as bad as mine, making a lot of money doesn’t change this fact. I’m amazed because someone is a celebrity they feel this need to stand up for something.

We live in America which is the greatest country in the world. Part of what makes America great is we have the freedom of speech and to take stands for what we believe in.

Call me cynical, but I feel most celebrities aren’t really taking stands on social issues because they really believe in them, but more because they want more air time.

Bottom line is celebrities are only popular as long as their face is in front of the population who adores them. Maybe Colin is just trying to get his face out there more. Who knows? I just feel he wouldn’t be acting the way he’s acting if he was still playing college ball. But now he’s got the big contract and money he feels the need to spout his nonsense.

Well, now you know what I think, let me know what you think.
