“I have come to set the captives free.” ~ Jesus
One of the most devastating things anyone who is a part of the human race can endure is the loss of heart. In the movie Braveheart, Robert the Bruce talks to his father and uses this phrase;
Robert’s Father: “All men betray. All lose heart.”
Robert the Bruce: “I don’t want to lose heart. I want to believe as he does.”
What does it mean to lose heart? There are two meanings; to lose one’s courage or confidence and to stop believing you can succeed. How often have you been waiting for something to happen only to never see it manifest? I am in a time in my life right now where things I desire to happen seem to be further away than when I started and it can be infuriating. At times I’ve entertained thoughts of what I want to see will never happen. It’s easy to do too, because the thoughts in my mind are relentless in their bombardment, couple this with the passage of time and it is easy to begin to lose heart.
I started this blog with a statement made by Jesus. In Scripture He says also, “I have come to seek and save that which was lost.” Religion has turned this statement around and has Jesus saying, “I have come to seek and save the lost.” It’s the loss of man’s heart Jesus is about; men and women everywhere in this day and age seem to be losing heart, their courage and confidence is lacking and they have stopped believing they can succeed.
We need a resurgence of the knowledge we are going to see those things we desire come to pass. I need to know even if I’m not there right now, what I’m doing is helping work towards seeing them arrive in due time. But it can be devastating when time passes and it seems we are no where closer to our dreams than when we started.
But who is to say we’re not any closer? With every little step you take you get closer to your goals. It may not be as fast as you want it, but maybe the passage of time is actually preparing you for what you are dreaming of. Maybe what looks like too much time causing a loss of heart is actually an incubation period meant to make your dreams even greater once they finally arrive?
If you’re in a time in your life where you seem to have lost heart, or think your dreams will never manifest, hold on, keep dreaming and doing everything you can to see them happen. Be positive and don’t let those thoughts discourage you, after all if it seems like you’re hearing thoughts about how you are never going to arrive, this probably means you are almost there. Don’t quit, keep chasing your dreams and watch as your loss of heart turns into victory.
